Real pay numbers
Lots of sites quote "starter pay" that's off by 100x. Here are first-year figures from the carriers' own pages, converted to weekly.
| Carrier | Real first-year figure |
|---|---|
| Roehl | ≈ $1,346/wk · "on track to make $70,000+/yr" |
| Prime Inc. | ≈ $1,250/wk · first-year average $65k+/yr |
| Schneider | ≈ $1,190/wk · first-year average $61,864/yr |
Sanity check: the Bureau of Labor Statistics puts the median for all heavy truck drivers at $58,640/yr (≈ $1,128/wk). Figures read October 15, 2026, and vary by division, fleet and miles.

Your coach
Cabwright is run by Michael, a working truck driver based in Middle Tennessee. He coaches new drivers the way he wishes someone had coached him: the real sequence, the real numbers, and the paperwork nobody warns you about until you're standing at the counter.
"If we can't source it, we label it or leave it out."
He films his own gauges airing up to teach the air-brake numbers. The pay figures come from the carriers and the BLS, with the disagreements left in.
Book a call with Michael →If the prep course doesn't cover all five areas of the federal ELDT theory curriculum, you get your money back in full. It doesn't promise ELDT credit, a job, a salary or a timeline. Anyone who guarantees you a seat is selling you something.
